This one got me good. My friend, Yanik Silver interviewed another friend whom I met in Haiti 2 years ago, Jordan Guernsey. Jordan is a legend; an incredible human, father, husband, and business person. Sadly, he is no longer with us in body.
When I first met Jordan, he was in the middle of a 3 year battle with cancer at age 27. In this powerful interview, Yanik talks with Jordan about life, love, family, business, mindset, consciousness and destiny, and how these perspectives changed since his diagnosis. This interview was done only weeks before Jordan’s passing.
It’s profound, touching, entertaining, lighthearted, insightful, and full of wisdom and soul. I choked up to tears more than a few times. It really exudes the true essence of who Jordan Guernsey is. Jordan is an inspiration and his light shining can help us all see a little clearer. Thank you Jordan, and Yanik for bringing this interview into the world!!
Here’s the link to Yanik’s website, and the recording of the interview:
Make the time to listen to this. You can listen to it directly from Yanik’s site, or you can download it as well.
Here are some of the big impact moments and quotes I jotted down in my journal from the interview:
-What would you tell your younger entrepreneur self? “Slow down. Figure out what you really love to do for a business and within your business. Trust the verified – get the right people working with you.”
-What cancer taught me, “I used to be bitter when I got screwed in business, and I would blame others. But with cancer the last couple of years switched my perspective. All this stuff is just happening to me internally. If I’m getting mad at someone doing something, its not because of what they did, it’s because of how I’m reacting to it. What they are doing is bothering me inside, so why don’t I just fix what’s inside of me. I now try to show as much genuine love and respect and try to help the person as best I can. People are mirrors of you.”
“Cancer was one of the greatest gifts because it just cuts out all the bullshit. It makes you free. I don’t answer to anyone now. Good or bad opinions mean nothing to me. I will turn my cheek every single time, I will love every single person I meet, but it took cancer to get me there. I’m totally confident in who I am now.”
“It doesn’t take cancer to change your lifestyle now.”
“Love will conquer all. Everything else is bullshit.”
“Focus on what you have now and be grateful for it. It’s pointless to worry about the future. The solution to every problem lies within the problem itself. When you ignore the problem, you ignore the solution.”
