Let the Music Stir Your Heart
It’s happened to us all.
When we listen to a great song, or there is a powerful really powerful film score to a great movie. We get that chill. You can’t really describe it, but it’s amazing.
I love that feeling.
Jim Rohn, once said, “Let the lyrics inspire and touch you, and let the music stir your heart.”
He was giving a speech on personal development and he was discussing the importance of capturing certain moments from the movies you see, or the music you listen to. What can you get from it? What can you learn from it?
The music in our World and the music we listen to is a true blessing.
First and foremost music is an expression for the individual playing or listening to music. And it is their choice of that expression. And that is a great thing.
Second, music can instantly change your state. It can get you pumped up for a sporting event, get you focused to work (I’m listening to some kick ass music on Pandora right now as I write this), help you calm down and breathe while in meditation, and create the perfect ambience for a dinner with loved ones, amongst many other examples.
It’s incredible how much your state will change in the morning when you wake up to a song you love, instead of the annoying buzzer you want to snooze every 10 minutes.
Third, there are messages in the lyrics of music, and if you listen closely, there is something to be gained and inspired by as we listen to music. So much music in just the last 100 years has painted of picture of the times we live, the struggles we’ve endured, and the triumphs we’ve accomplished.
Also, when you mind is in a goal setting, and creative state, music will help give you ideas and feed your creativity.
Just 6 months ago, I was on a Virgin America flight where they play in flight music, and I was writing my travel goals for the next 2 years on paper. While I was writing my goals of destinations I’d like to see, the song “Come Fly With Me,” by Frank Sinatra started playing. I just laughed and smiled.
When you are present, in tune, and attentive to the music around you, it will relate to the good things you’re doing in your life, and will also help you become more effective and creative.
A great website that will play different kinds of music while you are working is www.WorkatWill.com – It’s awesome and has different types of music for different moods you may be in.
Remember, let the music stir your heart!
